terms.
this policy is intentionally short and readable. if anything is unclear, email hello@imperfection.tech and we’ll fix it.
who you’re agreeing with.
imperfection tech is operated by an individual founder. cheque is an independent technology project. we are not affiliated with any bank, regulator, payment network, or government body.
when you join the waitlist or use the cheque product, your agreement is with that individual, doing business as imperfection tech. there is no parent company, no holding entity, no offshore structure. one person is responsible — and that person is also the data fiduciary under the dpdp act, 2023.
what you’re agreeing to.
by joining the waitlist, you agree to receive product updates from imperfection tech at the email you provided. you can unsubscribe any time by replying to any email or by writing to grievance@imperfection.tech.
when the cheque product launches and you create an account, a longer set of product terms will appear and you will have to accept them before signing in. those terms will be written in the same plain language as this one.
what we promise.
we promise to build the cheque product carefully and to ship it when it is ready, not before. we promise to be honest about what it can and cannot do. we promise to keep your data on indian servers, encrypted in transit and at rest. we promise to give you a working one-click data export, forever.
we promise that we are not a bank, not a payment service, and not a regulator. we will never touch your money, move funds on your behalf, or ask for your bank login. cheque is software. your bank stays your bank.
what you promise.
you promise to use a real email address that belongs to you. you promise not to attempt to break, scrape, or overload the service. you promise that when the product launches and you sign up, the information you give about your business will be accurate.
you also promise that you are at least eighteen years old and have the authority to use this software on behalf of any business you enter into the system.
what we don’t promise.
this is a small studio building careful software. we do not guarantee that the service will always be available, error-free, or fit for any specific business purpose. clearance rules, banking formats, and regulatory requirements change — we will keep up, but we will not always be instant.
to the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is.” our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or, if you have not paid us anything, to one thousand rupees (₹1,000). nothing in these terms limits liability for things that cannot be limited under indian law, including fraud and gross negligence.
intellectual property.
the software, the brand name, the website copy, and the design belong to imperfection tech. the data you put into the system belongs to you. nothing changes that. when you stop using the service, your data leaves with you.
ending the agreement.
you can leave at any time, for any reason or no reason, by emailing grievance@imperfection.tech. your data is permanently deleted within thirty days of that request. there is no notice period, no exit fee, no negotiation.
we may end your access if you misuse the service, attempt to harm other users, or fail to pay invoices once the product is paid. in that case you will get a written explanation and a chance to export your data before access ends.
if something goes wrong.
email first. that is genuinely the fastest path to a fix. if email fails, these terms are governed by indian law. disputes shall be resolved in the courts of india. for users outside india, your local consumer-protection rights remain unaffected.
changes.
if these terms change, the date at the top of the page will change, and waitlist members will be notified by email at least thirty days before the change takes effect. continued use of the service after that date means you accept the new terms. if you don’t, you can leave — see section seven.
